Evelyn Moise CarrenardEvelyn Carrénard was born in Haiti. Like most of her family members, Evelyn was introduced to the arts at an early age at Sacré-Coeur and the Center d'Art. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Administration, Evelyn taught in Zaire (the Democratic Republic of Congo) and moved with her family to Canada (1969) where she worked in her field for 25 years in a government corporation. In 1970, she started to paint again and created a large mural for a Canadian designer. Tea Royal Bank of Canada (Rome Blvd.) devoted a solo exhibition to her in February 1979, making her one of the first women of Haitian origin to exhibit in Quebec. In the meantime, she obtained a diploma from UQAM in Visual Arts and graduated a few years later from the Center de Céramique Bonsecours. Since 1989, Evelyn has devoted herself exclusively to her painting and ceramics and her solo and group exhibitions of her work have been seen throughout Canada, Haiti, the United States and Europe.
